Paper Players Challenge #91 and Freshly Made Sketches #31

Good morning, blogger friends!  We had a beautiful day here yesterday, and I managed to even get out and take a walk with my dear husband.  The violets are blooming here, and since they are my favorite flower, I was inspired to use this image to water color for the Paper Players Challenge #91.  The sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #31 worked perfectly for this image when I flipped it.

I used elegant eggplant and wisteria wonder for my main card stock layers.  I did some embossing with a Cuttlebug folder.  My image was from an old SU stamp called Violets for You that I found at a friend's yard sale and have never inked up.  I used my blender pen and reinkers to water color the image.  I popped up one blossom with a dimensional and added a dab of glitter to the center of each flower.  The sentiment comes from Something to Celebrate.

My own mom passed away in 1986, so Mother's Day always makes me kind of sad.  When I finished this card, I was wishing I still had the chance to send it to her since she knew how much I love violets and all shades of purple.  This year I do have a wonderful mother in law, so it will be on the way to her.

Have a great Thursday!  Thanks for stopping by!

  2. What a beautiful card Carol! We wont have flowers blooming in my neck of the woods for another month or so, but I do love violets! Great job on the watercoloring and the sketch!

I feel the same way about Fathers Day that you feel about Mothers Day :( It can be quite hard to have a parent gone.
